Gospel Moments (7): Prayer and Praise

Genesis 1:1 ESV

In the beginning,

God created the heavens

and the earth.

Genesis 1:27 ESV

So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

The more we meditate upon

God’s Word the more

it shapes how we think,

how we feel,

and how we see

the world.

Yesterday at

the Getty concert

the following Scripture

was read,

it was more meaningful

to me than ever before

because of the time we have

spent in Genesis 1.

Colossians 1:16-17

For by him all things were created,

in heaven and on earth,

visible and invisible,

whether thrones or dominions

or rulers or authorities-all things

were created through him and for him.

And he is before all things,

and in him all things hold together.

They then sang

this well known song

penned by Keith Getty

and Stuart Townend.

I pray it is a blessing to you.

“In Christ Alone”

In Christ alone

my hope is found;

He is my light, my strength,

my song;

This cornerstone,

this solid ground,

Firm through the fiercest

drought and storm.

What heights of love,

what depths of peace,

When fears are stilled,

when strivings cease!

My comforter, my all in all-

Here in the love

of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone,

Who took on flesh,

Fullness of God in

helpless babe!

This gift of love and

righteousness,

Scorned by the ones

He came to save.

Till on that cross

as Jesus died,

The wrath of God

was satisfied;

For ev’ry sin on

Him was laid-

Here in the death

of Christ I live.

There in the ground

His body lay,

Light of the world by

darkness slain;

Then bursting forth in

glorious day,

Up from the grave

He rose again!

And as He stands

in victory,

Sin’s curse has lost

its grip on me;
