Gospel Moments (12): Made in the Image of God (Part Six)
Genesis 1:27 ESV
So God created man
in his own image,
in the image of God
he created him;
male and female
he created them.
It is the first Monday morning
of a new year, a new beginning.
The first day back to work for
many people, the first day back
to school for many children…
daily life begins again.
It is the first day of the rest
of our lives…
We have the love of Christ.
We have the image of the
firstborn in our hearts.
We want to make our life count,
not just for something,
but for the gospel.
The glorious gospel!
We who were created in
the image of God rebelled,
sin entered the world,
and the image was distorted and
marred because of that sin.
BUT NOW
because of the gospel,
because of Christ,
we no longer live but
Christ lives within us.
The light of Christ
lives within.
We want this truth of
the gospel to
pulsate through our veins
in a regular cadence
unhindered,
unobstructed
by our sin,
by our weakness,
by other people’s sins.
or by the devil,
because of Christ!

Hebrews 1:1-4
Long ago, at many times and in
many ways, God spoke to our
fathers by the prophets, but in
these last days he has spoken to
us by his Son, whom he appointed
the heir of all things, through
whom also he created the world.
He is the radiance of the glory
of God and the exact imprint of
his nature, and he upholds the
universe by the word of his power.
After making purification for sins,
he sat down at the right hand of
the Majesty on high, having
become as much superior to
angels as the name he has
inherited is more excellent
than theirs.
On this first day “back”
we want to remind ourselves
of the hope and help
we have been given in Christ.
We are vessels of His glory.
We want to be distinctively
different not because we are any
better than anyone else
but because we have Christ.
Jesus came and lived and died
to redeem us so we no longer
focusing on self.
Jesus is the exact image of God.
Jesus perfectly reflected
